Kerala Roman Latin Catholic Canadian Community is a vibrant community of Malayalee Latin Catholics in Toronto whose dream was to have the privilege to celebrate Sunday Mass in Latin Rite and in our mother tongue Malayalam and also to serve our community in all aspects of spiritual life. This was a long awaited desire of our community to which few of our community members took initiative and discussed on several occasions. The first general body meeting of KRLCCC was on Dec. 18th, 2011. A meeting followed this with His Excellency Bishop McGratten, and the Pastors in charge. Since then sincere efforts have been made to celebrate Sunday Masses every month with the permission of His Excellency. With the hard work and prayers of KRLCCC, and our Lord Almighty’s blessings, our dream came true on June 10, 2012. This day was one of the important milestones in the history of KRLCCC. Since then we have been successfully celebrating Mass in Latin Rite every month under the name of Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Every first Sunday of the month Fr.Josy Mullassery had been coming from Montreal just to celebrate the mass until January 2014. His sacrifice and the love towards our community will never be forgotten. With the tireless effort of KRLCCC members and by God’s blessings we got Fr.Stephen Kulakkayathil from Quilon Diocese, for celebrating the mass on every first Sunday of the month and prayer and worship on every third Sunday of the month, since January 2014.
By God’s grace and His blessings, KRLCCC is officially registered with Canada Revenue Agency as non-profit organization on March 5th, 2015. Since its inception, KRLCCC conducted Onam, Christmas Celebrations, Pilgrimage, Fundraising events like BBQ and so many other activities every year to bring out the hidden talents of children, younger generation and to help them to develop social skills every walks of life. The different activities of KRLCCC help our children to develop Christian values, impart knowledge of our rich culture of Kerala, learn to work or play as a team, to assure responsibilities, and to reinforce the principles and character – building at home. We extend a helping hand to the needy like the new immigrants and the students coming from India for studies and job as well.
We are glad that Archdiocese of Toronto has agreed to establish Sacred Heart Chaplaincy for Latin Catholics in August 2015, and KRLCCC continues to support wholeheartedly all the spiritual activities of the church in all possible ways. Also KRLCCC is actively involved in social activities such as Onam, Christmas Celebrations and joining hands with all the charity organizations in Canada particularly Share life and Project Hope initiated by Cardinal Thomas Collins, Arch Bishop of Toronto. These little deeds are to glorify our dear Lord and for the growth of our Kerala Latin Community.
Our mission is to offer helping hands to the downtrodden people here in our community.
We are glad to inform you that KRLCCC has well qualified professionals who support our community wholeheartedly. If any students/new immigrants looking forward continuing their education or to settle here in Canada, we are happy to assist them without any hesitation. We will be launching a column for “ Tips for new immigrants” on our website www.krlccc.ca very soon.
